The Truth: LeRiche is still very much a young alternative independent singer-songwriter from Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador, an island off the east coast of the North American mainland. ‘River Runs’ (Sept 15) is his second single following the springtime release of the ‘Under Covers’ debut which had a murderously complex video that has warranted 100,000+ views and a 405 premiere as per the link here

Much like its predecessor, ‘River Runs’ revels in a casually timeless acoustic pop lushness, in this case sharing a gently galloping sensibility with ‘Horse With No Name’ by America. Yet for all that it captures the soft rocking essence of California circa ’72 ‘River Runs’ was written in one of LeRiche’s first co-writing experiences on a trip to the rather less sun-shocked Toronto late fall 2016 where his aim was to create songs which had room for the listener to interpret it in their own sweet manner. “I love writing in an open-ended way,” he confesses, “just leaving a little room for the imagination to run wild.

“’River Runs’ is about a realisation during a chance re-meeting or “unexpected collision” of two people,” LeRiche continues. “I think we can all say that we have found ourselves in this position, when you least expect to run into someone and then you realise the feelings or emotions you once shared have suddenly resurfaced, be it an old friend, a lover from a past life, or a familiar-looking stranger, when your eyes meet again you are overcome with nostalgia and the memories play back like a movie in your head. People say that some things are better left buried, and sure, the past can come back to haunt you, but on the flipside an unlikely friend can reappear at an unlikely time and turn your life around. That’s how you know that River Runs deep.”

This is a singular talent with a heart full of song, a man on a mission “with no end in sight”, but who knows that the goal is to continue learning, connecting and sharing all of life’s experiences through soulful melodies. More pertinently, this is a man who says things like: “This is a song that started as a poem I wrote on the bus…”

‘River Runs’ is taken from LeRiche’s ‘X-Dreamer’ EP, which will be released on October 20th and which consists of seven gently galloping paeans to the pain of being pure at art. Keep this frequency clear…
